The King of Diamond

Baseball - an exciting sport that gets you moving!

The King of Diamond

By Carrie A. Golden

Dirt and grass surround me as the warm breeze and salty sweat

Slither on my skin

Standing home with my wooden bat

Firmly in hands

I wait for the enemy on the mound

To fire his best shot

Fading into the background

The cheers and jeers of fans and players

As the rhythmic beats of my heart

Echo through my head

I plant both feet into the red sand

And ready both body and bat for the round, white object of nightmares and
dreams

Whoosh!

The enemy on the mound fires the ball

Crack!

As it connects with my faithful bat

The world then explodes

With the glorious music of whoops and chants

As I make my victorious lap around the field of diamond

Towards home, towards my hooting teammates

Life is sweet and so is baseball

The king of all sports.
